Dunlap 10-18-08

Assuming no one else bumps me from the "Activities Director" slot ;) , I intend to do more in the spot next year than ask Diane what I can do to help at the flyins heh.

One idea is a trip to Dunlap in June. They've got a good launch, a nice LZ, and camping with indoor showers and other plumbing.

June appears to be the best time to get a sure thing there, while the summer marine layer has settled in here (and lessened the possibility of people flying to Tijuana).
Stockton Bar ridge Utah

I had the opportunity to fly a new site for me last week when I visited Utah for 4 days. I hooked up with 2 local pilots Cabe and Neil from salt lake ( both avid base jumpers as well as pg pilots ). this ridge site was chosen due to the point was raining and thunderstorms happening all week. lots of room to lay out and good top landing area as well as a nice clearing at the bottom for both hang gliders as well as paragliders. I got in 6 flights with 2 top landings. the retrieve was easy and only a few minutes until you were flying again. we were the only pilots there but I am told there is a local hang pilot who lives right there that frequents the site regularly when the winds are a little stronger. I hope everyone enjoys the photos

Dunlap Road Trip - Sept 21 - 23rd - Fun Hang Gliding site

Hey all,

I'm going up to Fresno the weekend of 9/21-23 to fly Dunlap.

My old man has a vacant house (err actually a friend is staying there) that is available about 45 minutes from the LZ. There is also decent camping at the LZ.

I've flown there once and it's a bit dicier than our LZ at Andy Jackson. So, the LZ land owner asked that everyone be at least a Hang 3 on this trip, and he may want to look at the logs of the less experienced of us. As far as PGs, I am under the impression that it's not a good PG site for various reasons.

Garlock

Has anyone been to Garlock? What can anyone tell me about it?
Tony from Tennessee just moved to Ridgecrest, flies a Moyes XT or something. He says the place is great, I'm just fishing for more info. Steve

Good quality video with some Crestline footage

http://mtnick.com/home.html

This video details the travails of flying in Missoula, MT.

It has some good video of Crestline and Andy Jackson. I remember seeing the guy with the skull on his wing buzz Rob on the tractor and then skim the LZ like he was Oprah charging a buffet.

Now I know what it was for.

P.S. You need divx (http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/download/index.php) to watch.
