SoCalJune Bugs?Did I miss the June Bugs this year? They often show up in late May, but I don't think I saw any. Usually there's about a week where they're all over the screens at night here in San Bernardino. I also haven't noticed any butterfly-heavy days while flying this year. A few years ago we had that period in late Spring when the migrating Monarchs were splattering windshields and marking out thermals - quite a sight to be in a gaggle of Monarchs at 6000 MSL. Call 626-445-4932 or e-mail for questions. hang gliding exhibit at john wayne airportsitting at the john wayne airport baggage claim area (as i often do) i've thought how cool it would be to see hang gliders hanging from the ceiling. after all, orange county is the home of wills wing, southern california was the epicenter for hang gliding in the seventies, and well, it's an airport! a month of emails, phone calls, letters, and face to face meetings with the airport administration followed... and this morning, i received notice from the curator of the john wayne airport arts commission that my proposal for a hang gliding exhibit at the john wayne airport, has been officially (and unanimously) approved! christmas gift for that special pilot in your life...christmas is right around the corner, and it's time to start thinking about what your flying spouse/significant other would like as a gift. the c.s.s. is here to help you! starting january 1st through may 31st, the prorated cost for joining the glider storage facility drops to only $200. yup that's it. your favorite pilot can store two wings in cozy comfort through the winter months, and at the same time, you get those pesky wings out of your garage. it's a win-win!
