the dinner with a YES or a MAYBE.
- Location: Laguna (backup is Horse if the wind is wrong)
- Date: August 18th and 19th
- Gourmet BBQ August 18th at El Prado campground (club will furnish
something delicious like burgers, dogs, chips, beer and soda; feel
free to bring other items if you wish). If I remember right, the El
Prado turnoff is near mile sign 26 on the Sunrise Highway
- Suggested Donation: $5.00 per person for dinner
- AWARDS: Very special club t- shirt for a) longest flight, b)
highest flight and c) longest duration flight. Please let me know if
you think you have qualified for one of these shirts.
Details:
- Must be San Diego Club member to participate (if you aren't
current, we can take your dues at the event)
- Out of town flyers are welcome and can pay a monthly membership to
the club
- BRING YOUR OWN DRIVER or arrange with a friend; if you have room in
your vehicle, please offer to pick up any pilots alongside the road.
- Recommendations: Carry 2 meter radio, GPS, cell phone, water,
signal mirror; map, wear good hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, etc.
P3 or H3 with turbulence and cliff launch signoff (paragliders
beware . . . this is an extreme mid-day desert convergence site, it
usually blows down early in the afternoon)
- If possible, study or ask about acceptable LZ's before the meet.
We want to keep the landowners happy and not jeopardize these awesome
sites.
- Meet at Laguna launch on morning of the 18th and 19th
- CAMPING – We've reserved a great campsite for the evening of the
17th, and the 18th so bring your tent and camp out!
