"Another pilot set free"

Sad news from Telluride via hanggliding.org: http://www.hanggliding.org/viewtopic.php?p=350842#350842

We lost J R Nershi last night to melanoma cancer.
Many of you will remember JR from the early days in Telluride,he ran the Telluride Airman's Rendezvous In the early 80's when we had over 300 pilots attending.
He was part owner of the Floradora Saloon ,Hang Gliding central at the time.
JR was a HG pilot for about 20 years and an avid PG pilot for the last 14, traveling the world to fly and inspire everyone he met with his positive enthusiasm.

I remember the giddy over flowing joy that would spill out of him, always the last one down, as he gave out big hugs in the LZ , the mountains glowing orange with the last ounce of daylight.

J you will always be remembered for the lift you inspired in those fortunate enough to have shared your life.

JR was a seasonal visitor to AJX and he will be missed.

Sorry to hear this. I always liked to hang out in the LZ with JR... he loved flying that PG of his !!

I am very grateful to have known him. Always looked forward to his visits to our flying site. Cheers JR, we will all miss you.
