Here's a nice comment we got by email about the AJX LZ grass:
We were out on Monday, test flying 29 gliders. It makes for a long day. I remarked at the time, as I almost always do, what an incredibly inviting and pleasant place the LZ is, and what a tremendous difference the grass has made in my personal quality of life, and the enjoyment I get when I’m out there. I am so impressed with the accomplishments and the positive energy that is generated by the club members, and so thankful to have this amazing resource in my backyard.
USHPA membership is required for using any of the CSS launches or Andy Jackson Airpark. Pilots with foreign ratings can get a 30-day temporary USHPA membership from an instructor or via USHPA.
We need volunteers this Saturday morning to pull weeds and pick up small stones (they create "hotspots" where the grass can't grow) in the landing zone.
The fun starts at nine AM. Come out for an hour or two before you fly.
THIS WILL BE ONGOING EVERY SATURDAY UNTIL WE "GIT 'ER DONE".
THE MORE PEOPLE SHOW UP, THE FASTER WE FINISH.

"Hi CSS pilots, Today, June and [I] stopped by AJ flight park for the first time in 16 years as we traveled from Tahoe to Coachella. WOW, what great site improvements! About 18 years ago, we were there when the lumber arrived for the shade shelter that Gary had plans to build. After unloading lumber, we worked on building it with Gary, stacking the roof, drilling and bolting it together. Back then, there was a core group of us maintaining the roads, weed wacking launches and rolling out carpets. As we sat there in the LZ reminiscing of a thousand great Marshall flights, we were very impressed with the GRASS, concrete, power, water and a strapped down outhouse on a concrete platform! Stood that thing back up from the santa ana's a few times. What a club!! The only thing better than flying Marshall/Crestline is the camaraderie of this great group of pilots!!! "

My name is Dave Turner, and I already know a few of you from seeing you at the Marshall and Crestline launches. I am always psyched to come down from the Owens and fly the SoCal sites, as it often the only times that I get to fly with other wings in the air. Marshall, Crestline, Soboba, and Torrey is the spots that I usually hit up while down here, but it's just for fun; my heart for flying really lies in the Owens Valley and the Mammoth Lakes area. And this is why I am writing now...
Hi guys, for those that don't know me, my name is Aaron Price and I'll be running the SoCal XC League this year. For those that haven't been out with us before, the league is a fun way to learn to fly cross country safely and effectively. We have a huge range of skill level that comes out to these events, from those getting set up with their first GPS to world class XC pilots that are able to share great tips and tricks. For P3s and above out there, the SoCal XC league is one of the best ways to take your flying to the next level.

I upgraded the RASP machine this fall so the models run in about half the time. With a little prodding from our new RD Dan

A subcontractor has begun grading work on the new road that will lead to the new cell tower on the peak just north of Marshall Peak.
