Owen Morse & Mark Nizer do HG/HG Aerial Juggling!

O.k. - So I'm making this up, but here's the deal: Mark Nizer, former SHGA member is also a professional, comic juggler. Mark did some aerial juggling from his HG which can be seen in his promo video: http://nizer.com/pages/video_pages/promovideo_home.html
Mark will be performing at Cal Tech (indoors, I assume) on November 1st. Maybe Mark and Owen can hook up and and figure out a way to do this other than flying tandem together.

Ultrasport winglets or tail

Ken (or anyone else that has flown an Ultrasport),
Is it worth tracking down either winglet or a tail for my US 147? It tends to wander a bit, especially under 3/4 or full VG.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
CVV

Suprone

May one inquire as the identity of the gentleman flying suprone at Andy Jackson? My neck may not hold up in prone position, due to the wear and tear of a misspent youth....Please contact me at ( ) Thank You, Joel

T-REX in Owens Valley

Terrain-induced Rotor Experiment, that is.

http://www.eol.ucar.edu/projects/trex/

Waves are probably more germane to sailplane flying, but there's some interesting stuff on this site, and the associated rotors do dip down below 20k MSL. The studies focus on Oct-May, because that's when there's enough moisture to form wave and rotor clouds.

The 'Publications' link leads to some good stuff, and 'The Rotor Flow in the Lee of Mountains' in documents is retro-cool. The pictures section is cool, and the

Damn Westerlies

Gene's tumble inspires me to mention something that some of our relative newcomers need to consider.
We all have particular spots where we like to play, but the wind conditions need to be closely monitored as our fave spot may no longer be the friendly playground it is on a 'typical' day.
I personally don't much care for westerly conditions at Marshal. I also find myself not too eager to fly when the wind gets over 15 or so.

Local flytec restricted airspace file (.fas)

hey all,

Does anyone have a local area or California only .fas file for programming restricted airspace into Flytec varios?

I was updating the firmware on my 5020 and decided to load the North America list from the Flytec site, but it kept crapping out, plus it probably takes too much memory away from my flight records.

I tried to edit the file, but most of it doesn't say what state it is and I am not about to look at the gps coords of each entry.

Flying with thick(er) gloves?

So a week ago Saturday, I had a beautiful flight, conditions were a little rowdy, had one partial collapse but handled it easily, etc. *But*, my fingers were *frozen* at the end of the flight, thanks to the thin, 'just stop the wind' gloves I was wearing.

So I went out and bought thicker winter gloves. Fast-forward to yesterdays flight at Marshall. Conditions maybe slightly rowdier than last weekend, but for some reason, I wasn't having *any* fun, and just flew out to land after about 5-10 minutes. I think, in part, it was thanks to the fact that I was feeling like I had no sensation or input from my hands. The gloves definitely felt like they were dampening any input I might be getting out of the brakes.

Pedal powered PPG, "A" for effort, F for brains.

My guess on this thing is that it gives him a net loss of overall performance due to the extra drag, weight and lack of power.
