Getting back to Riverside/O.C. mid-afternoon Sunday may be slow. It sounds like this is the area just north of the 10/215 interchange.

Ten-hour closure of I-215 planned for Sunday 8/24

COLTON - Caltrans crews plan to close down most of the southbound 215 Freeway for ten hours Sunday for bridge work and maintenance.

Construction on the 215 at the 10 Freeway interchange is [b]scheduled for 5 a.m.

Details: Camp at Bridalveil Campground (5-8 miles from launch). Arrive at launch between 6:30 and 7:00. Set up right away. Paperwork/briefing. Preflight (monitor does one on your glider too, but you must do your own as well.) Walk to launch. Fly! Land and break down. It is still early, you can raft, hike, bike, lay out and watch the best view in the world. On Sunday, the Ahwahnee (sp?) has a great (but expensive) Sunday Brunch. In a humongous room with a view of the cliffs. And if you fly Monday, there are fewer people on the valley floor than on the weekend.

no McBuss, who wants to fly? Kim and I will be out there. Pick a time.

No McBuss Thursday/Friday this week. Anyone want to fly? Alan said he had Thursday off. Anyone else? Pick a time.

My trip to Morningside ended up solidly in the "Win" column, a big relief after much travel... and a "Loss" at Funston three weeks ago.

After being rained out the first of two days, I got 22 flights in on the second. I got to practice dead, cross, and strong wind ramp launches. Ramp launching in a tree gap is noticeably different than launching from a nice, rounded hilltop. The varying conditions allowed me to practice a number of different approaches and landings. Along with my best crosswind launch in my short flying career, I also managed my best crosswind landing, keeping the glider crabbed into the wind and running it out at an angle.

Two thimgs. I may have an empty seat in my Club Wagon going up to Lone Pine Fri 5/23 EARLY = 5:00 AM. (returning Monday.) So if someone wants the seat let me know ASAP and bring lotta gas $$ .......the pig only gets 22 mpg but there are 4 of us paying so far.

Second, 'need a safe place to stash a couple of cars for that w/e and I don't want to leave them all alone at Andy Jackson out there in the middle of no-where. Can anyone volunteer a driveway or something that would be safer that all alone out there at AJ ?
