Blossom and the Sunrise Powerlink

Dear Pilots,

The fight continues. The Forest Service will be making a final decision soon and your letters (via e-mail) can have an impact on their decision. Please send your e-mail to " " and feel free to cut and paste as much of my letter (below):

RE: Reject Sunrise Powerlink

Dear Supervisor Metz,

Construction of the Sunrise Powerlink through the Cleveland National Forest will destroy the environment throughout its path including the areas needed for construction access. It will increase the risk of wildfire in the Forest and surrounding communities. The Powerlink will hinder firefighting efforts as well as jeopardize the safety of fire fighting personnel. Construction of this unnecessary transmission line will require millions of gallons of precious water, which could deplete our wells and fire protection water supplies.

In addition, the Powerlink transmission lines will have a severe impact on recreational activities such as Hang Gliding and Paragliding in the El Cajon Mountain area where in 2009 I observed an active Golden Eagle nest on the cliff near one of the proposed towers on El Cajon Mountain.

I am asking you, as the Supervisor of the Cleveland National Forest, to protect the Forest and protect our backcountry. Please reject construction of the Sunrise Powerlink through the Cleveland National Forest.

Respectfully,

Lyne Perry, PG
