Friday 1/29/10Nice flying from Crestline today. Mike B and I launched about 1:00 and ate it up, lots of lift along the ridge and over at Pine, thermals running the gamut from feisty to docile. Brent launched later and said it had turned to sweet glass off. The sky was overcast with beautiful mottled clouds, but the sun broke through frequently. Gorgeous scenery, the slopes are noticeably greener and snow clings to the shaded places. There was snow on the set-up area but I think Greg, the Guardian Angel of Crestline Launch, had removed the snow from the parking lot. The swimming pool at the Camp looked frozen over. I got to 6900 but the lowest temp I saw was 48F, and mostly it was above 50. All the landings I saw were in zero to light winds and went well. Temps downright pleasant in the LZ. If Saturday and Sunday are the same there will be some happy pilots this weekend. Mike Z Forums > Pilot Reports |
