Cold Comfort in a Winter WonderlandSet up the Falcon on a snow covered Crestline. Owen and Rebar Dan set up the topless blades as well. Was worried initially about post-holing my way down a snowy launch ramp. But amazing, the only place not completely covered with snow was the actual running path at launch! Groovy baby, yeah! Can we do this again sometime? Forums > Pilot Reports Flight > HG Sites > Crestline Stuck"Where was DxD?" Stuck at the shop. Gotta get time on the CNC machine while I can. Still need another ~6 hours or so before Tuesday. -Dave How were your flights?Dan, many circleslots of turning in weak lift that was stifled by the inversion base at 5k. left low heading east and had to bail back to launch and climb back to 54 to cross over. camped at "the narrows" ridge (138 to cliffhanger) watching the flatlanders playing in the snow at every turnout. a couple climbs reached up through 6k. nice view. Sunday at SylmarTwo of us made to Mt Lukens where we got a nice look at the snow capped San Gabriels. Would have been fun to have flown Crestline too. Here's the result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAFCh7vFCHw I thermalled w/ Dizzy for a minute or two and he got this nice panorama.......

Nice!
Thanks for the report, Rod. I wasn't sure I could get a ride up to launch by the time I decided to go flying this morning and drove all the way out there. Bummer about the camera. Would have loved to seen all the snow. Where was DxD?
