I need some horsepower. If anyone is interest in picking up the Red Devil, let's work out a deal so I can snag that U2 for sale.

Only 15 hrs, eh? You

Only 15 hrs, eh? You missed your calling.
Used car sales or politics would have been your ticket.

Hang Gliding is inherently fun

Duuuuuude...

I just bought the glider this summer. I think 15hrs is pretty close.

You're thinking of my old Falcon, Floaty. That had 80 hrs.

might be..

Might be the perfect weapon for my entrance into HG. I'm out of the country for the next week, but I'll shoot you an e-mail when I get back to see if you still have it.

Go hang gliding!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

The adventure

I drove to Phoenix this morning to buy the LiteSport 5 that is for sale there. The wing has almost zero hours on it. The hang loop is still clean where the carabiner sits. But the guy selling the wing stored it in a 15 inch tube, sealed, on top of his truck for the past 5 years. So, even though the glider was in nearly new shape, the sail was old and yellow from being baked in the Phoenix sun a zillion times.
The tube had been sealed to long, he had to hammer the end cap off. He started at 3500, then 2800, then 2600. I wouldn't offer him more than 1800, and even then... I'd be pulling my pants down.
Damn... what a shithead. Who would leave a brand new glider in the heat like that?
Just before I left, he finally admitted "it wasn't that yellow when I put it in there 2-1/2 years ago."
So, now... I dunno. Maybe a new U2, but I'll have to save up for one.
Oh, and the story ends this way. I had dinner with a friend (she's prego with twins, so Gwen and I gave her our old strollers and some other goodies), then headed home. Just arrived. 800ish miles.

Bummer!

Did you and Gwen ask him to crawl inside the glider tube to check for loose parts then hammer the end cap shut?

Litesport 5

Sorry to hear this story. I almost drove there myself, but couldn't get him below 2800 and based on some other indicators
determined it was worth between 1000-1800. Thats before I heard this.

in the mean time

You are welcome to fly my sport 2 until you can get a new glider

-Dave

Thanks

I'm ordering a U2, but it's going to take 45 days or so to complete. So I'll definitely be taking loaners out for a while.

Mazel Tov!

The current model U2 160 is an amazing glider that is a joy to fly. http://imageevent.com/aero92/u2160 Rod, I think your time and money are being well invested. Adam Newman bought the one I demo'd and loves it. You are also welcome to come join me at Sylmar and fly my Falcon 195 if you need some familiar glider time to stay current.

good call

welcome to the club.

the u2 is the new sport 2... the must have wing for weekend warriors. it'll be perfect for you, imho.

Well...

I may have spoken too soon. I might just borrow U2s for a couple of months, see how it goes, then decide U2 or T2.

I've got the glide itch. Let's see how deep I want to scratch it.

reciprocity

you can borrow my u2 when I get it back up to AJX after ze mitch repairs the wingtip scuffs from my glide itch.

of course, if you go t2, I may be tapping your shoulder... "you gonna fly dat?"

Wing Tip Repair

Mitch did an awesome job repairing the ones on my old U2. Wish they came from Wills with the reinforcement and durability he built into them. You won't regret the U2.
