Point of the Mountain - July 4th

This morning I was feeling lazy, so I didn't get up until 6:45. But winds were strong, and by the time I wanted to fly a PG had crashed severly.

A student pulling big ears to descend, released the big ears, one wing reinflated immediately, the other side hesitated because of a slight cravat. The pilot failed to weight shift and began a spiral into the ground. Impact caused double compound fractures in the legs, including the femur, broken wrist, concussion, sore back.

An ambulance was on scene, and the freeways were clear when the life flight chopped landed. So... it was serious.

Immediately after the chopper departed, I managed to grab 5 flights in an hour of flying time. Good stuff. I'm having so much fun just working on setting up various approaches! I've done about 80 approaches this week, and Dave has done a bunch too. We're both pretty tuned in.

Don't even think about getting into a spot landing contest with me for a while!

Stuck in the coffee shop again as the afternoon thunder storms are developing. May fly tonight. May not.
