Nice!

Thanks. I've been itching to read a report today. I was too run down to fly again today. Can't wait to read some more and see pix.

Great flying Mark

Yesterday you saw Alaska Air at work.

Today I visited a Corporate Jet at 10K.

not sans Sans

Owen and I flew east and tagged San Gorgonio then south to San Jacinto then a long smooth lift free glide to indio. no camera dangit, incredible views. thanks wally!
all right, now I think I can make it through the winter.

yeeha!

what a fun day! a number of firsts for me today... looked down onto san gorgonio, san jacinto, and shared a thermal with four sailplanes!

thank you dan and wally, you guys are first class.

in an effort to turn mountain bikers into mountain flyers, i've been posting my flights to the website geoladders.com

http://www.geoladders.com/gps_route_racer.php?route_id=18096

it's a free website, i don't think you need to log in first to view flights/rides, but i could be wrong. if you are into mountain biking, it is an amazing resource!

Geoladders & Leonardo

Owen - I've seen your So Cal X-C winning flight on geoladders before and was wondering why the heck you were posting your HG flight on an MTB forum. Have you received any inquiries from any MTBs? I used to be an MTB and would see guys flying from Mt. Wilson back in the late '80s.

I just started using leonardo on the PG Forum. I think it's a great place to post and share flight data and descriptions. http://www.paraglidingforum.com/modules.php?name=leonardo&op=list_flights&pilotID=0_13416

inquiries

about once a month i'll get a message from a mountain biker asking me about hang gliding. it's my own personal outreach program. it seems to me that there is a fair amount of crossover among participants between the two sports... hang gliding just needs more exposure.

cool

you guys are cool! Did you stay together the whole time? What was the total distance? 70 miles?

Near Miss

Another close one 11000 over Lake Gregory and A Southwest 737
boated by at 10000 about half mile in front of me. Somebody
got a good visual of me. I was close enough to worry about his
wake. Got to 11000 multiple times. Flew North to the end of the range and turned around at 8000. Got back up to 11000 and flew east just short of the school. Could have gone further but a cloud was shadowing and wasn't sure if I"d make it back. Aero Commander circled low through the canyon multiple times which was spooky as
there were people working low in the canyon. I watched in amazement. Went out to Marshall where I joined up with Mark we worked a thermal from about 500 above to 12000 (Mark) 10000 (me)
It was pretty hazy where the 737 had originated and I didn't feel good about hanging in this corridor even though lift was awesome.
Landed at 5pm. Pretty bumpy during final setup and got popped couple of times on final. Fought them off and made a darn good landing. Thanks everyone for a very good day.

cool

Awsum flight log rebardan and owen !!
Where in the desert did you guys land ?

it's a big sky

dan and i flew basically the same route, at the same time. i got a jump on him right from the start (i can set up my wing a little faster!) and although we were in radio contact with one another, i never saw him!

on final glide, dan was able to fly about five miles farther, landing in indio, 75 miles from crestline....

flying with a cheater!: final glide from san jacinto into the desert. wills wing t2c and an atos vx.flying with a cheater!: final glide from san jacinto into the desert. wills wing t2c and an atos vx.

about five miles farther

I believe that’s about $2000 a mile in differential glider costs.

Way to save Owen!

do the math

divide the total xc miles into the cost of the glider and the figure plummets like a yella paraglider flying into a 10 mph wind.

Was wondering what you
