Soboba 9-20I have flown Soboba for a couple of years now, and I have never seen so many PG's in the air at one time. One count said there was 42 gliders in the air at one time. There were about 60 pilots signed in. A huge success for the fly-in. Happy Birthday Darrel. What a great B'day party. Even Dusty and Rod were out on their hang gliders. Awesome day. The flying was great. I had about a 2 hour flight, as did a lot of people. The spot landing contest gave us lots of entertainment. LOL. Good food, lots of people and great flying. What else could we ask for? I can't wait for the next one. Thanks Darrel and Bob. Forums > Pilot Reports Flight > PG Sites > Soboba Few PhotosI put a few photos up on the Soboba Yahoo Group: http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/sobobasoaring/photos/browse/2e80?c= Need to be a part of the yahoo group to view I think though. ): Sure was funI racked up close to 4 hours that day, first with a flight from 1pm and top-landing near 2:30pm. 1400 fpm lift at times. Then a sweet relaxing flight starting around 3:50pm and landing before about 30 minutes before sunset. I think the sweet spots for flying Soboba are noon to 1pm (before it gets too rowdy) and then from 3 hours before sunset. The 2 guys (Dusty and...) that flew from noon to 1 were wondering why nobody was up with them. But it was roundy after 1pm. |

Sounds Great!
Thanks for the report Mike. On Friday, Jerome had encouraged me to attend but I already promised my wife we'd go the SB for a museum show, which we did. Glad it was a big success. Please post a note here if you become aware of any photos or videos of the event. Maybe next year!
