Shit!

How about the airport? Do they still have a runway out there? We need to acquire a bail out somewhere between launch and the East side of the lake...and hopefully get permision to land at the airport???? XC site/share a LZ

Alternate?

Is there a viable alternate LZ to develop, or is all property taken? Can the city make a few acres available somewhere?

Last Time at the Oak Tree

So that's why nobody else landed there today.

LZ

Locals are frowning on landing in the old LZ any longer because
there are still ramifications with the developer and the hope is not to agitate them any further. People are still flying there, but landing plans need to be worked out ahead of time. There are alternative fields, but pilots need to review them with the locals
and be prepared for X/C type landing options (conditions). The biggest headache is the placement of ones vehicle. Currently on weekends pilots park at the Ortega Market. Landing at an alternative can leave you with a hike back to vehicle unless something is prearranged. If you have a driver then may not be an issue. Flying Santa Ana's is another issue and will have to be addressed at a later time.

Flying will continue in Elsinore

There are plenty of places to land here. Parking at the park and ride in front of the market at 74 and Grand is good option. We can land in any number of fields along Grand Ave. Landing is not really an issue here. It is the hanging out with others pilots and hearing the stories after flying that is the problem. To address one of the questions, this side of the lake is county property, so the city has nothing to do with this. They have been approached and are unable to help us. There are a few pieces of property available for a great LZ. But we are a poor club and can't afford that kind of purchase.
I will continue to fly here Everyday. If you are a good pilot and want to fly here just call me. 951-805-0024. There are lots of options!
More to come as things develop. Don't let this keep you from flying here.

THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO!!!!!

Does anyone know anyone who's really good at putting together videos? If we did some sort of short Warren Miller kind of vid about Elsinore--it's history, how integral a part of the site freestyle was/is, the community of pilots and some of their antics over the years, interviews, etc. HOW CAN THE CITY THAT TOUTS ITSELF AS AN "EXTREME SPORTS CAPITAL" NOT PROVIDE AN L/Z?
Maybe all the HG/PGAs (world wide!) can band together and send the city council in elsinore letters. a really good vid offered to every news station and Fuel TV might help get the word out... It just feels like too much loss, a golden page torn from the annals of freestyle flying history. There's so much pilots like me can learn there! It just can't disappear!!!!!

Rumor Has It

That the Oak Tree LZ at Elsinore is open on a "use it or lose it" basis.

Contact Elsinore locals for more info if none of them post here.

prescriptive easement?
