Marshall Saturday April 19, 2008

Took the 3 PM McKenzie shuttle. Launched Marshall at 4:10. Easy ridge soaring, wide thermals and mild cloud suck allowed me over two hours of smooth flying. Only a few hangs and paras out to enjoy the cool windy day. Soaring to cloud base was easy. Highest I got was 5400. Crestline was much cloudier than Marshall so I just stayed and boated around Marshall. Boyant air went far out front. I flew out about ¾ the way to the freeway. Landed at 6:15. Great day.

'twas sweet

Frank, a good day was had by all. Launching at 1:00 was fine too but probably a rattier experience. We really liked watching everyone soaring the afternoon air after we landed.

Saturday

After an hour+ I decided to head in. I was about 4K MSL about half way between the ridge line and the LZ and literally had a difficult time losing altitude. It took me nearly 15 minutes to drop 2K.

I'm sure I will wish for these conditions when the temps are a little warmer - my hands were cold.
