Elsinore Apr 13 (Fickled) Great for some Sucked for others.

Arrived at Edwards at 11:45. The word was the E was blown out.
We began setting up at Edwards and shortly it became apparent it was going to be an E Day. Several pilots bypassed Edwards going directly to the E. About 12:30 we noticed Mitch climbing up over the E. Soaring conditions at Edwards were continuing to slacken. Paragliders were struggling to stay up when RC Dave launched. He turned right and and eventually found lift. Wind kept changing directions making it difficult to decide which direction to turn.
I launched at 1pm flying the Talon turned right and began to sink out pretty seriously. Found no lift at the usual spots and began my glide to the LZ. Got down really low over the A frame and snagged
a nice smooth 200fpm going around and around. It drifted all the way back up the face of the Edwards bowl until I got maybe 100 over and then I lost it. Several other gliders had launched and were passing underneath me on their way to LZ. I too was in a sink cycle and again headed for the LZ. Followed Mickey in for a landing. Got down to about 100 ft over the LZ needed one more 360
to start my final when the vario began squawking. Kept it smooth
as possible and it continued to build and drift up the North face
of Edwards Bowl. Pretty soon I was at 8000 with (HG) Chris on his sport and Everyday and MikeQ in their panties.. The sheer had arrived and was parked over the Elsinore ridge. Flew from Los Pinos to the South Towers. At the towers climbed back up to 8000. Air was extremely smooth. Bill Sod managed to climb to 10000 and flew to the Beach. Mark and Spike made attempts to make the beach, but came up short. Spike had successfully made it on Sat. 4pm couldn't find anyone else in the air so I flew away from the convergence and headed out to the LZ. Flag in LZ had switched to downwind which made me happy cause it's a lot easier to land in this condition. 4:30 made a decent landing on my butt. My friends were aware I'm having some health issues and came out to assist
me by caring the wing to breakdown and helped bag it up.
Man it's nice to have friends like that.
