Another one of those big ol' videos, again a torrent

Fiddling around with the panasonic hdc-sd5. It records to full 1080i (compressed with AVHDC) on a SD card, about 10 minutes a GB. I rendered it at full resolution, 8 mbps. You might need a decent machine to see it.

The vids are mostly from one weekend at Elsinore (2 days) and Crestline (1 day)

My fat, gloved fingers accidentally zoomed most of the Crestline footage, so what little I have is either zoomed in or cockeyed. It does have Whack's first rigid launch. One of the few in flight shots I got was zoomed in on Ken H...

The music is Rhapsody in Blue... I refuse to let United ruin it.

because of the size of the file (bigger than a CD 800 or so megs), a torrent is my only option...

A good client, as always, is uTorrent http://www.utorrent.com/

Down the line I may post it to my ftp site... but it'd cost me a fortune in bandwidth, most likely, if everyone hit it at once.

Nice Vid and Soundtrack

Looks like a great day at Elsinore. Your wing point-of-view landing with the inset of a simultaneous spectator's vid is really nice. In the Crestline portion, I think that's me heading out from Billboard with my Falcon 225. The guy you were following near Cloud Peak is wearing a red jacket, so it aint me.

Good choice of soundtrack. I discovered Rhapsody in Blue (Bernstein on piano and conducting) in my Dad's LP collection when my age was in single digits, and I played it all the time; never knew it was 'popular' until many years later. I still have the vinyl, but these days I listen to a different version on CD.

The torrent worked fine overnight. My WinXP box is actually kind of weak, so I had to adjust Windows Media Player to watch properly - it was set to drop frames to keep in synch with audio and that made it more like a slideshow than a video. I'll reactivate the torrent later to feed some more back up - my Verizon DSL connection is kind of wanky and things get herky-jerky when I run a torrent feed while I try to work online.

Good Flying,
Ken Howells

thanks

thanks Ken,

don't sweat the torrent... looks to be going okay.

i really wish I had the camera out wide when I followed you at billboard... I had you "in my sights" for about 10 seconds, which is almost impossible, only to find later that I had pooched the zoom. The resolution of that video camera would have made it a decent small pic for the magazine if I had pulled it off.

Love the high def

JW,

Another great video! Thanks for preparing it, torrent went well and I seeded for a while too. Looks like I'm the only one using Azureus, everyone else I saw had uTorrent.

nice!

Hour and forty one minute download, but worth the wait!
Thanks John!
