What was that????????I was checking the time lapse at 6pm and notice a puff of white stuff starting at Cloud and floating to marshall at 15:44 to 15:49. It looked like it could have been a dustdevil at Cloud but ended up looking like smoke at Marshall...did anyone experience it first hand? I'm flying vicariously thru my computer.... Forums > Pilot Reports Flight > HG Sites > Marshall News > Pilots Thanks Ken !It looked like it came off right in front of cloud, the the distance to Little Mountain would explained why it got bigger when it reached Marshall. I saw the gust front in the time lapse as well...that's sooo coool! |

Little Mountain Dust Devil
That was a huge dust devil that kicked off from Little Mountain (near the crest of Little Mountain Drive) a few minutes earlier. I was on Marshall at the time, after having flown my hang glider. I was talking to a couple of PG pilots about the possibility of a gust front from the cell over Moreno Valley when the wind picked up to over 20 MPH for a couple of minutes and we saw that dust devil kick off Little Mountain. It took a few minutes to get to us, actually passing 1/2 mile east of the peak .
I arrived at Marshall at 1400 and there was a small gust front progressing west from Redlands, taking over 20 minutes to get to Colton and not spreading toward San Berdoo at all.
No gust fronts otherwise.
GPS track images and flight gory details on my website.
Good Flying,
