Elsinore 09-01-07Interesting weather today. Did not see or hear any HG or PG flying Elsinore today, which was probably a good thing considering the weather progression here today. I took a 1:40 pm 1600 agl tow in a sailplane and flew out to Diamond Valley Lake topping out a bit over 12K over Canyon Lake enroute. Got to go around a couple of microburst rain and lightning cells near Perris airport and over the center of Lake Elsinore. Very cool looking down on the lightning from 10K+ and just a mile or two south of it. Both microbursts were tight and well defined. I have to start bringing a camera more often. Only flew a couple of hours but it was enough to remind me how fortunate we are to be able to experience soaring regardless of what particular wing we are using. I still love HG the best, but on a quick developing day it is nice to have a VNE of 149 kts, and not to have to use the old legs for landing gear. See you in the air, Alan I would love to hear more about all the flights over the last few days at Crestline (and beyond?) Forums > Pilot Reports Flight > Non-HG-PG Sites > Elsinore |

Landed at the Elsinore
Landed at the Elsinore Glider Airport today (9/1/07). Flying south of Canyon Lake I noticed the cell’s, was sending my driver to Hemet, seen a gust front down by Winchester Road while climbing thru 8K. Oh No Mr. Wizard, I don’t want to be in the air, 65 MPH to the airport. Yesterday was big 11K,2k plus lift, had that Owens Valley Death grip on the basetube. Spike
