marshall saturday 3-17-07

great day flying today. started out first with a flight off marshall at about 1pm. jerome and joe d and a visiting pilot from russia all launched right after me. i top landed and then took off again and went down to the lz at which time a pilot report came in from soboba and being it was on my way home and trying to cram as much adventure into a day as possible i drove over to soboba and met bob and darrell and dave and hiked up. david and bob both launched and climbed right up over the top in thermic rowdy conditions. darrell and i were not able to bench up. when i landed i got a call from joe d that he and jerome and the visiting russian pilot had gone xc and went to the dam and were looking for a retrieve. so i jumped back in the truck and met the xc crew at the dam with cold beer and pretzels. congratulatios to joe d for his first cross country flight and to alex the visiting pilot on his first flight from marshall. what a great way to spend a weekend day. fun fun fun. lets do it again next week

Yea it was a good day

A couple of 360s in 1000+ fpm and the Marshal-Crestline-Pine triangle and floating the interstate... good flying! Damn good flying! -Peter S

Thanks Scotty

Big thanks for Scotty for a retreive with style. It wan't my first XC to the dam, but it was my first time guzzling down a 24 oz cold beer.

My flight:

Best altitude of 1939 m (6360').

Congratulations to Alex (first time at the site) and Joe (his first XC ever) making the dam. They arrived later than me and was asked over the radio on how to find the LZ once they arrived at the Dam. Damn beginners. ;-)
