Cross-Eyed Googley Stereo VisionMaking a 2-panel image of a flight in SeeYou inspired me to try making a cross-eyed-stereo view of my two flights on 18 Feb 07. I used Google Earth, for the photo quality. The effect is rather striking. I have no idea what the optimal left-right shift between images would be. I went fairly conservative, I think. See Pilot Report for flight description. Forums > BS (Banter Section) MaybeI'll have to gather some materials and do some, uh, research. Yeah, that's the ticket... For the cross-eyed thing, it helps to have your head square with the image. Also, it can help at first to be closer to the monitor than normal, like 12". Also relax your eyes as much as possible while you cross them - let your eyes go to long-distance focus. Don't "look at your nose". Pretty Cool, Ken... But,...Ken, after staring at your cross-eyed-stereo image for about a minute, I was able to see the 3-D image. That is way cool! Tip: After crossing your eyes, vary the distance to/from the screen until your brain locks in on the image. The only problem is that I could not continue reading anything else. It took a while for my eyes/brain to straighten out again... perfect time for another beer... BARTENDER! |

Ow
Couldn't do the cross-eyed technique.
The latest SI issue, the Swimsuit Edition, has 3-d glasses in it. Any chance you can gin something up to work with those? Kind of a two-fer, IMO. ;)
