It just so happens that I have been missing my 1 inch dial thermometer since last week. It had a black needle and white background. I think that the temperature was 68 or something. Do you think that you could send it to me?

is that "the" dennis miller, the comedian?
AFAIK, its one of them recto thermometers.
personally I didnt believe it would work, but, being the curious type, I had to give it a go. Well believe it or not, it worked like a charm. I'm amazed. My border collie Shilo, however will be glad to see it go.
so shoot that address on over and we'll get'er out right away.

"LOL" is a cliche, but I am literally chuckling.

And, Rebardan, make sure the one that came out of Shilo is the one at 68 degrees. I suspect a similar looking one popped out that was near 100°.
