Fly-In Images, New Member, Forum & Contributors

Trish Stitz, whose fiancee is WW's Rob Kells, sent a bunch of great photos from the recent Fly-In - I've posted them on her behalf. Thanks Trish! Also, thanks to Mishi for the pics she took the time to post.

I noticed a new member who's joined our website. Read Paul Schaefer's description for some interesting CSS history info. Welcome Paul, and Thanks!

Forum Participation
We're getting good participation in the Pilot's Forum, but it isn't as lively as it was in the old forum. I'm planning to re-email account information to all of the former accounts that I converted for the new forum but that haven't yet been accessed. In another month or so I'll remove all of the accounts that have never been used.

I'd welcome any feedback regarding ease-of-use of the forum and website in general -

Contributors
So far, no website members have requested being made Contributors, users who can post pages, news, and other content to the site in addition to using the forum. All you have to do is ask. I've upgraded all regular Forum participants to Contributor status and I'll do the same to the accounts of all CSS members before too long. When you're made a Contributor, you'll see new 'edit' tabs above the content in most of the non-forum pages of the website, and you'll be able to modify them as you see fit. You'll also see new options in the 'Add Content' page - Book Page, Page, and Story.

'Book Pages' fit in a hierarchy, like the 12th Anniversary Fly-In pages. 'Pages' are for stand-alone content. 'Story' pages are best for things like news items and announcements - teasers for them appear on the home page, in reverse chronological order. The important thing with all of these is that they have a menu option section on the editing form, which you use to fit them into the top or side menu structure so that they can be found by users.

Please be careful, but don't worry too much about screwing things up - there's a revision tracking system and menus can be reworked fairly easily.

The Drupal framework that the site uses is a true wiki, much like Wikipedia, where the content is managed by the users.

What isn't on the site that you think should be? Create it! Or tell me about it and I'll make a skeleton that you can flesh out. You don't have to create a masterpiece of a page, just get the core info in there. I or others can go in and adjust formatting and wording, if needed. Contributions of small chunks of time by many people can add up to a website that's far more useful and informative than any one or two can do on their own.
