Elsinore Sun 7-6

I arrived at The E at 11:45 to find it blowing in at 5-9 mph. About 5 hangs setting up and 1 other PG getting ready. (Joe). One hang launched and sledded. Another hang launched and was working the house thermal. I watched the conditions develop as he flew. I launched at 12:30 followed soon by Joe. Ferenc showed up and set up and launched and all the other hangs launched. I worked the house thermal to 5K and went looking for better lift. I found it back over the ranches. Everybody had left the area. XC? Joe crossed the lake. I have no idea where the hangs went. I flew over to the south towers and got up over 6500' msl. I stayed in the area and flew for 3 hours. I landed at my new LZ. Nice. Right next to my house. Real nice in the air as it was real hot on the ground, so I hear. I guess I missed the hot part of the day. (he he).

Flyable all day from 10:30am to 7pm.
William and others were already soaring above Marshall when I arrived on launch after 11am.
I flew from 11:30am to 12:30, took a long lunch break, then flew from 5 to 7pm: On that late afternoon flight (details) I flew back to Crestline then went back and forth to Pine twice. Max altitude of 6200'.
Fourth of July at Elsinore

I arrived at launch with 2 other PG pilots at 11:30. There were 3 HG's there setting up already. I saw the back flag switch to blowing down. So I launched first at 12:10, followed pretty quick by everyone else. Turns out we didn't need to launch that early as it continued to blow in for another hour that I know of. It was pretty easy to get up. We had made plans to land on the 'island' on the lake where all the boats congregate. Must have been 200 of them.
Elsinore 6-29

I arrived at launch at 12:00 to find 2 PG's in the air already. They were working the house thermal and staying about 3-500' over. I waited until until they started getting higher and then I launched at 12:30. Gene launched right after me. We worked our way up to 5K and hung out around there for a long time. I topped out at 6K once. 4 PG's and one HG top landed. I flew for 1 hr and 40 min. It was typical mid-day, summer conditions. Kinda bumpy and strong, abundant lift. I hit 950 fpm lift. A number of HG's went to Saddleback and back. I didn't go there today. I did yesterday and ended up short coming back by about a 1/2 mile or so. No problem though, a nice big field was right there for me.
Elsinore 6-25

I arrived at launch at 11:30. Alone today, so commited to top land. The back flag was blowing down, but was blowing in nice on launch. I waited for an hour before I launched at 12:30. Went up slowly to 5K. Stayed there for a long time. Worked between 4500' msl and 5500' msl. Tagged 6300'msl. Went back to the Rock piles and flew around 5K when a C-130 came by, real close. He made 6 trips between San Diego and Corona, I stayed clear of him. I waved at him. I should'a got pics, but wasn't thinking. Flew for 2 hours and came in to top land and there were three people on launch. What I didn't see was that he was flying a kite at 1K over. I ran right into the kite string on final. Fortunately my wing was not damaged and I made a great top landing on the PG side of the E launch. Needless to say, I had a few words for him since I had been flying in the area for 2 hours, and he admitted he saw me in the air. Everything worked out OK, so no big deal. I bet he won't be flying a kite there any more. LOL. Max altitude was 5900' msl. A few bumps but nothing over 600 fpm.
Elsinore 6-24-08

I arrived at launch at 11:15 with an HG pilot. Back flag was blowing down, but not hard. Blowing straight in 5-9 mph on launch. I saw some haze domes off to the SSE. I launched at 12:00 and slowly worked the usual house thermals to 5K msl. Spent a lot of time in the 5000' to 5500' area. I flew NNW toward Saddleback. Got to 6300' just past Rad Dans. I saw Chuck on final at the Oak tree LZ so I turned around at School Bus ridge and headed back toward launch thinkng I could top land and drive Chucks truck down. To my surprise it was still blowing in. I caught a nice fat thermal going 900 fpm up to 6300'. Flew down to the south towers and then back to launch to try another top landing. It was just switching and still real bumpy. I caught another one to 6200'. I then elected for the LZ. Got there at 4k' and practiced assym spirals to a grand over and then had a great landing in wind that was still blowing in at the LZ. 2 hour flight.
Elsinore 6-20 and 21

This post is about two days. They are very similar. I arrived at launch at 11:45. Looked at conditions and launched about 12:15. Worked the house thermal and the E cone and went up 7K msl. Looking up I see a haze dome. I headed to it and arrived at 10060/10568 shortly. This was at the South towers. Today I headed back to the LZ and caught the convergence a second tome and took it over 10K. This time I headed downwind and went 20 mile Eastish. Today I landed at the eastern end of Clinton Kieth road. Yesterday I landed in Temecula. The Bella Vista Middle School soccer field. Smoking hot on the ground. Real nice in a sweatshirt at altitude with gloves.
