To All USHPA members in Region 3,

At the upcoming Board of Directors meeting next week we will be discussing the Mentor program. It is our hope to implement the program nationwide this year. What the Mentors do is help newer pilots with the help and guidance needed to advance safely toward their intermediate and advanced ratings. Many students are on their own once they leave the care of their instructors. The Mentor program will provide a link to up and coming pilots with others in their community that will help with site introductions, peer reviews, equipment advice, and even the occasional driver. It is a great way to help our flight community grow and make new and valuable friends. If you, or someone you fly with, would be a good candidate for this position, please contact me before next Thurs am. I will add your name to the list of possible Mentors. Lots of pilots out today taking advantage of the south wind.

This was my flight on 1-30-10. I launched Crestline. Headed over to the billboard. Thermaled up to 6400 and then headed off to Marshal. Passed cloud at 5100. Cruised around not finding much lift. Finally wound up at regionals at 3500. Found a weak thermal and started to go up. It got better and better and better. Went up 2300 feet on one thermal. Look at the flight track. It is almost a perfect straigt line up. Hit 5800 and cruised back to Crestline. Then headed out over the college and to the LZ. Great fligh! I am really jazzed about the big thermal and that I captured it.

Hello! I'm a Midwesterner coming out to Palm Springs for week. Ill have maybe late Sunday (around 4:00pm) and all day Monday available to fly in the area. Couple quick questions.

1. Any early weather outlook for the area for Sunday/Monday?

2. Im a P2 and I typically like to pay for a quick site coaching session for any new area and to do a quick brush up on my skills. I fly a few times a year. Anyone available? (plus the site is P3 if alone as I understand it)

Had to drive to Temecula yesterday and on my way back I stopped at Elsinore. The wind was a bit stiff for me, but not everyone.
