PG

Mothers Day

I arrived at The E launch at 12:45. I had to hurry because it was blowing down out behind launch. Worked the house thermal and the E cone to 5K. 650 fpm lift. Flew for 50 min. Had a great landing at the tree LZ. I then packed up and went to Soboba. We arrived at launch at 4:00 and I launched at 4:30 into smooth lift that took me right up over the top of the towers to 4100'msl. Good thermals at 500 fpm every 15 min.

Marshall - Saturday May 3rd, 2008

From other postings it was good at Soboba and Kagel. But Marshall was great too.

There we groups of pilots from Santa Barbara and Arizona.

At 1pm I did an XC to the dam (see attached picture) with comfortables glides from about 8k altitudes. Flight gory details.

Re-launched marshall around 4:30pm and flew in a blend of ridge lift and thermals with altitudes around 7k. Details.

soboba saturday

A great day at soboba today. we arrived early and tried to move our storage container. thanks to eagle wings hangliding for stepping up with three trucks to try and move container. we ended up getting a semi tow unit to move it after we couldent get it to move more then a few feet. 9 of us pg pilots hiked up to launch and parawaited until about 4pm when two pilots ( mike and joe ) launched. they rocketed skyward and radio'd back to us that it was still a little strong. the rest of us waited unil 5pm and launched and we all flew to sunset with one pilot getting 3 & 1/2 hours and the rest of us all getting more then 2 hours. the lift was everywhere and very smooth. several times we flew out over the city of san jacinto and got low and came back to the mountain and had no problem climbing back over the top everytime. we all landed at around sundown due to we wanted to land. no one landed due to a lack of lift. johannas from the kagel area who often flys marshall had his best flight ever we were told as he landed with a ear to ear smile. im told pilots will be meeting a little later tomarro at soboba at around 3:30pm. we hope you all had as much fun as we did.

Elsinore Fri May 2nd

I arrived at the Edwards launch at 1:00 pm. Found it blowing straight in at 10-15 mph. I launched at 1:30 into nice lift along the face of the ridge. I worked this for about 20 min and then the shear came thru. OMG, 1000 fpm up a few times. Big fat lift but the edges were sharp and bumpy. Got real bumpy at the top of the thermals. I got to 7K in 30 min and didn't get below that till time to land. Got to 9300' msl. Took pics of a formation of planes going to the San Diego airshow. One hang pilot flew east past the 215 freeway. I landed at the Oak Tree LZ after 1 hr and 40 min. Blowing down in the LZ at 8 mph. Easy landing.

Hello...visitor looking for the weather outlook this weekend - 5/2-3

Seems that posted in wrong subject...about last weekends outlook. Doh.

I will be visiting with two other baggers from phoenix this weekend. Saturday we will have all day.

Not being familiar with Marshall/crestline I was wondering what it looks like this saturday? Hopefully good wind direction and no high pressure!!

Original post:
Hello all!
I hope the weather and direction holds . I will be there this saturday as a first time visitor from Phoenix, az with two other baggers. It will be a nice change from these high pressure bullets we fly in lately! 12-1500 up is great, but no wider than your wing just sucks!! Keeps you on your toes and teaches active piloting very good...but damn!

Elsinore Apr 25

I arrived at launch at 12:30 to find a hang pilot in the air going up fast. I got ready and 2 more hangs launched. (one sledded). I had to work hard the first 20 min then, boing. Right up to 7K. I topped out just under 8K. The others got 8500' msl. Bumpy ride today. One hang went east of the 215 freeway and the other flew FOUR hours. One PG flew for a couple of hours and top landed the Edwards launch. Hard to get down. I went to the 15 freeway and back and north past Los Pinos and hung out over the lake for a while. Every time I got near the LZ I went up to 7K. I finally found some 1100 fpm sink back in Edwards bowl and cored that to get down. I got 3 hours but E-Team Jack got 4 hours on his hang. Good job Jack. A great day at Elsinore!

Soboba Apr 18th

Arrived at launch at 4:15 to find it blowing straight in at 7-12 mph. I cooled down from the 17 min hike with a cold beverage. I was 2nd to launch at 4:55. I went right and found a thermal and worked it to 500' over the towers in 6 min. Got to 5K and stayed there for an hour working the differant peaks in the area. Pilots were going out over Hemet and San Jacinto and not losing any altitude. J.R. got to 6850 out past the college. I made 6520' msl over the big 'S' on the mountain. Able to practice manuevers and get right back up. Move out front for hands free butter smooth air. Pulled out a cold beverage and flew hands free and really enjoyed that. Everybody had 2 hr flights.
