PGMentorsTo All USHPA members in Region 3, flight 1-30-10This was my flight on 1-30-10. I launched Crestline. Headed over to the billboard. Thermaled up to 6400 and then headed off to Marshal. Passed cloud at 5100. Cruised around not finding much lift. Finally wound up at regionals at 3500. Found a weak thermal and started to go up. It got better and better and better. Went up 2300 feet on one thermal. Look at the flight track. It is almost a perfect straigt line up. Hit 5800 and cruised back to Crestline. Then headed out over the college and to the LZ. Great fligh! I am really jazzed about the big thermal and that I captured it. Visiting from out of state looking for possible ride/coachingHello! I'm a Midwesterner coming out to Palm Springs for week. Ill have maybe late Sunday (around 4:00pm) and all day Monday available to fly in the area. Couple quick questions. 1. Any early weather outlook for the area for Sunday/Monday? 2. Im a P2 and I typically like to pay for a quick site coaching session for any new area and to do a quick brush up on my skills. I fly a few times a year. Anyone available? (plus the site is P3 if alone as I understand it) Paragliding in Iquique, ChileSharon and I had a great paragliding trip to Iquique back in November. I finally got the videos made and the links are below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0y6giKf2ks Visiting pilotHey Guys, Josh WINTER SOLSTICE COMP: make sledders meaningful!I hearby challenge everyone at every local site to compete with your friends to see who can have the shortest flight on the shortest day of the year. ElsinoreHad to drive to Temecula yesterday and on my way back I stopped at Elsinore. The wind was a bit stiff for me, but not everyone. Looking for Ord or Blackhawk or anywhere PG'able Saturday December 19Hello! I am driving out to pick up a Condor and two Falcons for a dealer here in Albuquerque and would like to fly my PG Saturday if I can hook up with anyone. Looks like a N-NE forecast. Anyone want to meet up at Ord or Blackhawk around 2 or 3pm on Saturday? If not, are there any other places that would be fun for an old PG pilot that day in those winds where I could make some new friends? Flatlander VisitI'm a flatlander who will be in Palm Springs in February for an event. Im thinking of bringing my paraglider, just in case. A few quick questions: Whats the realistic travel time from LAX to the park? And from the park to Palm Springs? (Ive heard of the LA traffic, so just checking) Is this the closest flight park to Palm Springs? And other sites recommended? I'm a P2 pilot so I will be contacting a local school for a site coach session as well. Any recommendations? Marshall in JanuaryI'm planning to visit Marshall Peak in January. I live in Northern Ca., so I'm posting to ask what to expect for the weather at this time of year. Snow? Thanks,'Gary Honkin' Santaners? It appears to me that we will have North winds 15-30mph on Sunday at Elsinore. My guess is that it will mellow-out a bit toward the end of the day...maybe enough for PG's...maybe not. it turned!Got to launch a little after noon and waited. A little after 1:00 it switched. Really fun flying. Flying Thursday 10-22Scott and I had planned on flying Ord or Blackhawk today, but when I looked at the weather page and saw that the wind had switched (barely) we decided to head to Crestline instead. We picked up Brent and Dusty at AJ before heading to launch. Dusty launched first and got the last good cycle and was able to do a reverse inflation. The rest of us had to do forward inflations, which included some time waiting for it to stop blowing down and barely start blowing in. PG Pilot w/o Helmet - Sat 10/17On Saturday a PG Pilot landed with out a helmet. I thought a helmet was an absolute requirement to fly! Hell, PGers are suppose to wear a helmet when "playing" (kiting) in the LZ. So...any comment(s) regarding what should/will happen to this pilot? |
