The local cable news channels are reporting a HG rescue by the local fire department with the pilot being transported to the local hospital post the rescue.. deadbeatHeard we had another visiting pilot skip out on his daily use fee. Even after he overshot the LZ and the monitor and another local gave him water and helped carry his T2 to the break down area. Maybe he was dazed, but he told the monitor it was in the drop box and at the end of the day when they tallied up who was naughty and nice, he was naughty. The exact cause of the accident is uncertain, but Richard was unable to maintain control of his glider while on approach to land. The last hang gliding fatality in Los Angeles County was more than 21 years ago. FaustoSad news. Our friend and fellow pilot, Fausto, has died suddenly from complications of an very recent illness. It all apparently happened so fast. He was a kind and soft spoken PG pilot so much liked by all the pilots and visitors to the site. Dianne and I extend our condolences to his family and friends. He will surely be missed. Stupid ankle!So... yeah. I managed to give myself a "grade 3" sprain on my right ankle at the rock climbing gym this evening. Odds are I won't be flying for at least a week, maybe two, maybe more, depending. Going to see my GP/an orthopedic dude tomorrow to see what more I need to do about it, get the orthopedic dude to confirm I haven't completely messed up any ligaments, etc. LAME.
