Big News on AJ Airpark FutureThe CSS Board met this past weekend and we are excited about the development of the X-Country Ranch and the future of the CSS in this regard. Please see the minutes from the meeting at http://www.crestlinesoaring.org/2010_feb_special_meeting_minutes . Many of you will recall that back in 2006, while the developer was pressing ahead with plans to develop the property to our east; the Ranch property to our north came up for sale. There were at least three bidders: the developer; a lady who wanted to plant an orchard; and pilots Len and Owen. Fortunately for us, Len and Owen were the successful purchasers. Our approach has been protected, our water supply increased, the fence between the properties and the 'paragliding eating tree' are gone, and now the Big O project is in mid-flight. The Board meeting last weekend took the first steps in creating a new, integrated LZ/Ranch area. Over the next few months the Board will be preparing the first draft of a 'Master Plan' for the combined LZ/XC Ranch to be presented to the full membership for discussion later this year. The vision is of an integrated, family-friendly facility which will promote training and growth of the sport; and be a hang gliding/paragliding destination for pilots from across the country and beyond. Initial thoughts include adding RV pads and showers to the amenities. Please share your thoughts on improvements that could help realize the dream. What would draw you to the site? What would you like to see added that we don't have today? We want to hear what you have to say and we are all working on answers to the many questions that might arise. But more than anything we want to know your dreams about our future. - Alan Crouse Sites > AJ Airpark · XC Ranch News > Club Biz |

Development of the X-Country Ranch
I would like to propose the investigation into the feasibility of building of several small studio apartments to be added to the X-Country Ranch compound.
The goal of this proposal is to increase positive cash flow and add to property value with an expansion layout designed to minimize intrusion to the airparks flight approach.
These rental units could be built cheaply and quickly from shipping containers.
