Crestline Stairs - Rebuilt

CSS Volunteers rebuilt the stairs at Crestline launch today (6/21), and replaced the sign posts and a couple of timbers in the wall for good measure!

Big "Thank you"s to the work party crew: Rob (who also donated rides to Crestline), Rebar Dan (who also donated rebar :-), Kenny & Megret (who brought along tools, snacks and water, and little helpers), Dusty (more tools and a trusty new post), Mike B (who single-handedly cleared all the weeds from launch), Ken H, Tom S and Chris VV, and Mike Z (who did most of the organizing, preparing, rounding up materials and trucking for this event).

After digging out all of the old RR ties, levelling the ground, and placing the new ties, the finishing touches are handled.
Replacing the rotted posts for the info sign was the next task.

Elsinore 6-20 and 21

This post is about two days. They are very similar. I arrived at launch at 11:45. Looked at conditions and launched about 12:15. Worked the house thermal and the E cone and went up 7K msl. Looking up I see a haze dome. I headed to it and arrived at 10060/10568 shortly. This was at the South towers. Today I headed back to the LZ and caught the convergence a second tome and took it over 10K. This time I headed downwind and went 20 mile Eastish. Today I landed at the eastern end of Clinton Kieth road. Yesterday I landed in Temecula. The Bella Vista Middle School soccer field. Smoking hot on the ground. Real nice in a sweatshirt at altitude with gloves.

Crestline Stairway to Heaven

Great job by the work party up at Crestline today. Don’t be surprised if you see the new stairs featured in "Better Homes and Gardens" next month, they look that good! Big thanks to Ken, Kenny, Alan, Rob, Chris, Dan, Dusty, Tom. (Who am I forgetting? I've got a memory like a sieve.) While we were placing the steps Mike B single handedly weed whacked for hours and cleared the entire slope at launch. You can run all the way down to the rocks if you need to now.
