AJ Airpark 13th Anniversary: July 14, 2007

This year's Summer opener was a real blast!

While conditions were soarable but not spectacular, everyone got their fill of airtime and BBQ at the Airpark 13th Anniversary Fly-In.

The skies over Marshall were filled with gliders all afternoon - at times there were 20 or more stretched from Last Chance to the Radio Tower. The spot landing contests provided a lot if interesting landings (and no tubage!) and the glide contests were a big hit, providing something to watch while eating and drinking and socializing in the LZ. A number of contestants signed up AFTER the contest had started, because it looked like fun and they were able to just go to the top of the training hill to compete. We'll have more of this type of contest in the future, we're sure. Results will be posted here soon.

The food was provided by Double D's BBQ again this year, and it was a big hit again, with teriyaki chicken, hot links, burgers, corn and potato salad, etc. and vegetarian fare as well.

The SB Sun newspaper sent out a photographer and reporter to cover the event, and we made the front page of the Local section on Sunday's paper, with a great little article and a couple of big pictures.
